Although Bowery Station has closed and we are currently traveling and researching potential new locations in Southern Florida, below is a little info about the history of BS, and the origins of what became an awesome live music venue on the Forgotten Coast. (To follow the travels and tribulations of Matt and Lisa, please click here!) Originally from New England, proprietors Matt and Lisa Gardi moved to Apalachicola after spending a lost decade in the Keys. Having vacationed on St. George Island often over the years, the duo quit their jobs and moved north in the summer of '13 for a longer stay. Thinking they would spend a few months and do some traveling, it wasn't long before they found a new home in Apalach. The warmth of the Key's weather was soon replaced by the warmth of a great community, flourishing with history, culture and a diverse environment...along with the friendliest people imaginable.... and an exceptionally talented array of musicians from within a few hours drive. Adding to the other unique businesses beginning to flourish in the Apalachicola, Matt and Lisa chose to open Bowery Station to showcase their love of live music, and great beer and wine. They had the goal of creating an atmosphere they themselves would love to find in a City that values it's place in History, and cherishes it's residents and visitors alike. It was great to have Lisa's mother Sandy visit in 2013 during the set up and opening. (And scarf the first dollar from her...) Although the habit of letting the peanut shells accumulate on the floor was a bit of an adjustment for her, she helped immensely in getting the bar prepped for future visitors. In 2016, for numerous reasons, Bowery Station relocated to 131 Commerce St, with an entrance on Avenue F, directly next door to their previous location. This new location opened in October 2016, and has continued to be the home for great live music in Apalachicola. Come see what it's all about in the Bowery, at Bowery Station and here in Apalachicola, and enjoy our new expansive, yet still eclectic digs, some great live music, and tasty cold beer. We look forward to seeing you! |
