Something about this upcoming week reminds me of Ray Bradbury.... Something wicked this way comes! That's right... Seafoodfest.... and I do mean wicked a good way.... like in the way it's said in Maine! Add in our great line up of live music and this week is sure to be a wicked pissah! Wednesday, Oct 30 - BS Open Mic hosted by Matt Gardi starts at 6pm. Come on out and sing a song and get to know what it feels like to get up on stage in front of a crowd and hear what you sound like on a sound system the pros play on. As always tips for BS Open Mic performers are dedicated to charity. This month we are working with our friends at the Forgotten Coast Parrot Head Club to help contribute to their efforts to raise money for Project Lifesaver by putting on a Haunted Trail (Oct 25th, 26th and 31st) in association with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. Project Lifesaver is the premier search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies, and is strategically designed for “at risk” individuals who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering. The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a cognitive condition (i.e. Alzheimer’s, Autism, etc.) Thursday, October 31 - Get ready for a very frightful night as Clayton Mathis comes in for a show from 6-9pm! Making things even more terrifying on this Halloween eve, Mathis has assured us he will be playing the entire show in an ugly sweater.... and yoga pants. We were appreciative of the fact he did not offer his speedo costume. Regardless, Mathis is a tremendous songwriter, and mixes up his shows with your favorite covers, and his well written originals. With a following that sings along with all his songs, all ages can enjoy his show that spans the genres. Friday, Nov 1 - Get ready for some foot stompin' blue grass and folk, as the Flathead Stringband plays from 7-10pm. Chris and Haden rip up the old time tunes like few others, so expect a night of revelry like none other with banjo, mando, guitar and fiddle! This go round, the boys are joined by female vocalist and bassist Bronwyn Chelette It might be getting cold out there, but not when the Flathead Stringband starts burning up the strings! Saturday, Nov 2 - Dave Dale is back in the house starting with an early show from 2-5:30pm. Word is he is bringing some special guests down with him from Dothan, so expect a great show as Dave defines the word performer! From rock, to country and americana, Dave does it all with a special touch that makes sure every listener enjoys the show, and you will find out why we chose Dave for the crowds of Seafood Fest! Then, strap in because Dirty Red & the Soulshakers are coming back into town for a show from 6:30-10pm! Dirty Red & The SoulShakers are a modern-day powerhouse-blues band, built on old-school influences and a mutual love for the down'n'dirty style blues. Sunday, November 3 - Slim Fatz will be in the house from 3-5pm to start off the day with some of his unique style growling blues! Slim is the perfect way to get things rolling on a Sunday afternoon. Then the Reverend Billy C. Wirtz joins us from 5-8pm. Reverend Billy C. Wirtz is a comic genius, gifted pianist and American musicologist who defies easy classification. “I like to think of myself as the Victor Borge of the blues,” states the Reverend, but Billy goes way beyond Borge both in scope of subject matter (from politics to social commentary) and, of course, in taste. In fact, no theme is too extreme, taboo, or undignified for the Reverend, so long as it garners a good laugh. This will be a do not miss Sunday evening show. Again, thanks to everyone who continues to support our efforts to bring the best in live music to the Forgotten Coast! Without your support, it would not be possible! See you at the show! |
