Bowery Station Music Schedule (Oct 16 - 20)

posted Oct 14, 2019, 1:20 PM by Matt Gardi
Prost on the Coast lit up last weekend here in Apalachicola and we would like to send out our thanks to all the musicians that participated, our friends at Oyster City Brewing Company, The Chowder House and to all of you that attended to make this year's celebration of live music, beer and food a resounding success!!

With that being said, we continue on with our effort to bring those of you thirsting for live music the best around...

Wednesday, Oct 16 -  BS Open Mic hosted by Matt Gardi starts at 6pm.  Come on out and sing a song and get to know what it feels like to get up on stage in front of a crowd and hear what you sound like on a sound system the pros play on.  As always tips for BS Open Mic performers are dedicated to charity.  This month we are working with our friends at the Forgotten Coast Parrot Head Club to help contribute to their efforts to raise money for Project Lifesaver by putting on a Haunted Trail (Oct 25th, 26th and 31st) in association with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.  Project Lifesaver is the premier search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety agencies, and is strategically designed for “at risk” individuals who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering.  The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a cognitive condition (i.e. Alzheimer’s, Autism, etc.)  We are excited to have the first $200 in tips matched by a very generous donor.  So let's continue BS Open Mic's effort to help out this worthy cause.

Thursday, Oct 17 -   Dirty Red & The SoulShakers hit the stage from 6:30-9:30pm!  We had to cancel these guys last year on account of Hurricane Michael, so we are excited to get them back on stage.  Dirty Red & The SoulShakers are a modern-day powerhouse-blues band, built on old-school influences and a mutual love for the down'n'dirty style of blues that define the band's sound. A dangerously tight rhythm section, backing a funky, shake-your-money-maker groove, guarantees ladies dancing and good times! Top that with wailing blues harp, jaw-dropping guitar licks, and the unmistakable charm and soul of the towering blues-man they call, "Dirty Red," and you can bet you're gonna find yourself hooked.

Friday, Oct 18 - Sundowner Motel joins us from 7-10pm.  Americana folk that is hard to classify, Sundowner Motel crosses genre boundaries with songs that ache with the intimacy of life, grit and blessing alike, all wrapped in tone, melody and harmony. It Sounds like a place where one can go to feel sinless and strong. Described as a mixture between Warren Haynes and the Indigo Girls, Sundowner Motel is a refreshingly pure blend of Americana, Alt-country and folk. This will be a great return visit by this duo, so don't miss it.

Saturday, Oct 19 - Ashley Feller kicks off the day with a show from 3-5:30pm.  A regional favorite Ashley has a great set list of covers, but shares her well written originals as well.  She brings a contagious smile to every one of her shows and we are excited to have her return to BS and showcase her unique style of songwriting!   Then, tie down the roof as Wakulla Rising returns for one of their dynamic powerhouse shows from 6:30-10pm.  Wakulla Rising brings their backwoods swamp funk sessions of downhome tunes out as few bands can put on such a masterful show with so much talent on one stage, so expect a fun night of dancing and groovin'!

Sunday, Oct 20 - Belle and Beyond joins us in a new format from 5-8pm.  Certainly not newcomers to the Bowery Station stage, as each of these two talents, Kathryn Belle Long and Mickey Abraham have appeared in numerous musical acts such as the Adventures of Annabelle Lyn and Blue Begonias.  However in this rendition they have developed a sound all their own, and we look forward to them making it a perfect fit for a musician centric Sunday evening.

Thanks again one and all for your support of live music at Bowery Station!
