As we still recover from the Maine event, (Which by the way was one of the most amazing weekend's of live music yet! Thanks to the musicians who really gave their all, and thanks to John Swan and Lesley Wentworth for sponsoring such greats on the stage!) we continue to disseminate information about the exciting changes coming to Bowery Station... and dispel rumors. First, the new owner is not Clayton Mathis, nor is it Applebees. However, it is a highly energized creative group of locals, with experience and enthusiasm... and they are excited about continuing to develop the business environment in Apalachicola! For instance, another one of their newly established businesses is High Five Adventures... an original, and creative venture and attraction to the area! This fun way to get out on the water and enjoy the environment by pedaling their boat is a great way to gather friends for an experience like none other. We can't wait to see how far they take the bar into the New Year!! That being said, here is what we have for lined up for you this week! Wednesday, Nov 13 - BS Open Mic rolls at 6pm, and we are excited to already have some of our northern half timers returning, and can't wait to see them back on stage. As many of you know, tips for performers during open mic always go towards a charity, and during the month of November we will be raising money for Patrons of Apalachicola Library Society, Inc. (PALS)! PALS primary purpose is to assist the Apalachicola Margaret Key Library in promoting literacy to all ages and improving the library's resources. The funds will stay local, and go towards books, supplies and children's programs... so come on out and get on stage for a great local cause! Thursday, Nov 14 - The Highbeams return to the BS stage from 6-9pm. Three brothers with true passion for music; Highbeams play their own brand of emotive, high-energy Folk Rock. Since forming in 2012, Highbeams has released two full length albums and performed all over the Southeast alongside national acts like Vertical Horizon, Chase Bryant, and Col Bruce Hampton, and the Krickets. Today the band continues touring behind their latest release, Everything Aside, and making the most of every opportunity to share their dream with the world. This touring act has begun to develop a great following here in our humble venue, so head in early to grab a seat for what will surely be a music appreciation room on a Thursday in Apalachicola! Friday, Nov 16 - Flip Flop Republic makes their debut on the BS stage from 7-10pm! The Flip Flop Republic is more than a band, it is an escape and the never-ending search of a good time! Their music will take you away to your favorite beach, and their live show will make you forget vacation is almost over. Born on the beaches of the Gulf Coast of Florida, the Republic come together to create a great time for everyone at the coolest venues around the beach! Their sound reflects the spirit and energy of the gulf coast. Flip Flop Republic has toured all over the Southern US and Caribbean. The Flip Flop Republic blend a heavy dose of reggae rhythm courtesy of drummer Miki Victor, who hails from the island of St. Maarten, and drummer Jake Pepple from New Orleans with rock influences brought in by lead vocalists Joe Lowder from Tupelo, Mississippi and Doug Dolan from Miami, Florida. The two singers split time in front of the mic, but rather than be singled out, the vocalists prefer to find harmony! Lastly, keyboardist Skinny B (Blake Bosarge) mixes in that bubble into the band’s influences to provide the mix to create that rockin reggae sound. These guys will help you shed your winter blues quick! Saturday, Nov 16 - The day starts with soloist Jeb Tabb joining us for a show from 3 - 5:30pm. Jeb brings his Georgia roots to his performance with solid vocals of Americana with a down home feel. Then, hold onto you hats as the Jerry Thigpen Trio is bringing the rock and blues train into town for a show from 6:30-10pm. Well written originals are mixed in with your favorites from the Beatles to the blues... so come on out for a show that is sure to have the joint jumpin! We are looking forward to a very special night with the Trio at Bowery Station this Saturday night. Sunday, Nov 17 - Back after a couple month hiatus... Booooooooo! That's right, Boo Radley returns for a show from 5-8pm. One of the finest duos to play the Southeast, Patty and Michael combine their voices for intense harmonies accompanied by Michael's incredible guitar arrangements for a performance of their own style of what has become known as ...new 850 Americana. A primarily original show that fans have come to love, this will make for a fantastic Sunday evening for any original live music enthusiast! Come on in and give us a HIGH FIVE!!! |
