Boy did we cook up some hot live music last week, highlighted by Bill Wharton, the Sauce Boss... blessed to have him grace our stage. We have another great week lined up, including some of your favorites along with some national touring acts.... Wednesday, March 27 - Matt Gardi hosts as BS Open Mic rolls from 5-8ish. Please note the 5pm start time, as last week we again had so many interested performers that we ran Open Mic late to get them all on stage. Fear not, we will start a little earlier this week again, so if you want to show up and play after 5pm, our host is ready to accommodate you! As always tips for our Open Mic performers go to support local charities, this week we are raising funds for the Friends of the St. Vincent Island National Wildlife Refuge, in anticipation of our fundraiser scheduled on Sunday, April 28, a Jimmy Buffett Tribute featuring Sticky Too! Thursday, March 28 - Better than a Reeces Peanut Butter cup, we combine two great acts back to back as we continue to make Thursdays the New Fridays. We have chosen to do this in the form of Del Suggs and Reckless Saints. Del Suggs, who has appeared at every Florida Folk Fest since 1983 has chosen to offer his winter performances at Bowery Station, and the duo of Roy Schneider and Kim Mayfield of Reckless Saints always try to make Bowery Station a stop on their tours when in North Florida. Both of these acts have captured audiences with their performance styles as well as their songwriting. While clearly different they can find a similar home in the folk and Amerciana genres. Reckless Saints will start the evening from 5-7pm, followed by Del from 7:30-9:30pm. This will be one of those special evenings and do not miss performances at Bowery Station... oh, and admission is FREE, so get in early. Friday, March 29 - Matt Law comes on out for a Friday afternoon from 4-6:30pm. Matt can, and will play just about any genre but finds a home in old blues, americana and the 60s and 70s. Notable for his impressive guitar and vocal range that covers the classics so well, we thought it would be fun to have a great like Matt Law open for National Touring act Brody Buster! Brody with a similar style of one man band to Sauce Boss plays from 7-10pm. BrodyBrody Buster is a blues rock musician from Lawrence, KS. He's a former harmonica child prodigy and has been featured on countless TV shows, including the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Dateline, Crook & Chase, and the Jon Stewart Show. Even Baywatch Nights and Full House showcased Brody's talents. Brody has shared the stage with Quincy Jones, Keb Mo, Chaka Kahn, Lee Oskar and was a regular performer at B.B. King's Blues Club. B.B. was once quoted as saying, "Despite his age, Brody Buster is one of the greatest harmonica players of our time." Brody has also won best harmonica player at the 2017 International Blues Festival and 2nd place Solo at the same fest. Again, there is no charge for this event, so please come early and seats can only be held with a butt in them. Saturday, March 30 - Josh Watson comes on in for the afternoon from 3-5:30pm. Josh is a masterful guitar player, with a unique voice and plays a variety of genres that can please any generation. Josh creates an atmosphere that folks tune into, often singing along. Then, the Adventures of Annabelle Lyn join us for an evening from 6:30-10pm. This trio of incredibly talented ladies have opened for the likes of America and the Wood Brothers. Few acts can offer such impeccable vocal harmonies, accompanied by stand up bass, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. Their set list consists of some of the most intriguing originals, and covers from folk, gospel and even classic rock done in their own style. Sunday, March 31 - So, just when you thought it was safe to try and take a nap... fuhgeddaboutit! The Turkey Basters are coming into Apalachicola to light up your Sunday afternoon from 5-8pm. This duo of Melissa Bowman and Tim Dutrow bring their high energy show that locks in the attention of the entire venue from start to finish. Known as a one of the best female acoustic guitar players on the Gulf Coast, Melissa packs a punch with her dynamic and powerful vocals. Add percussionist Dutrow to the mix.... and it is game on. Sorry kids, as much as you wanted a day of rest... we just couldn't let it happen this week. Catch up on your rest at work Monday. There it is folks... another unbelievable week of top talent in the live music world... and we can't do it without your support...and for that we are always grateful. See you at the show. |
