Bowery Station is proud and excited as we put the wraps on our fourth year of jammin' with the best talent on the Gulf Coast and drinking the best beer (OCBC) in the world....and this final week we lead into our 4th Anniversary Bash and SPAM Cook-Off 2018 and it will be a dooooozie!  Bring your SPAM dish and rock out to an all out jam session featuring Johnny Barbato, Brian Bowen, and Eric Pfeufer on Superbowl Sunday!

Let's get down to the brass tacks for a week of debuts, and wrapping up with some Forgotten Coast Favorites!

Wednesday, Jan 31 - Jeffrey Thomas is ready to kick off the week from 3:30-5:30.  Jeffrey loves to put on a show of rock n' roll and southern rock with great guitar riffs and a voice built for the stage.  Then BS Open Mic rolls from 6-8ish.  This weekly event has been a mainstay in local entertainment for years, and has fostered the development of numerous performers as they gain their confidence and stage presence.  All levels of talent are welcomed and appreciated.  As always, tips for performers from BS Open Mic go to charity, during the month of January we will be supporting the SGI Cat Allies, an organization run by Cathy Buell that works diligently to spay and neuter feral cats in Apalachicola and on St. George Island.

Thursday, Feb 1 - DEBUT ALERT!  Shaw Davis and the Black Ties are going to rock Apalach like never before from 6-8:30pm!  These cats received an impressive review from Blues Magazine: “We have a new young guitar hero! Shaw Davis of South Florida.  Fierce, raw guitar licks… his guitar tears, barks and bites… We will certainly enjoy this guitarist in the future.”  After their album release, the trio returned to the South Florida Blues Challenge 2017 and won their “Road to Memphis” for the International Blues Competition in January of 2018.
Albert Castiglia, Matt Schofield, GE Smith, and JP Soars are a few of the artists they have shared the stage with and opened for.  Throughout their shows, the band plays a high-energy mix of originals as well as renditions of covers from some of their greatest influences like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Cream, and many other blues-rock giants.  It is an honor to have these guys step on our stage, and they will define making Thursdays the NEW Friday!

Friday, Feb 2 - The day starts off with an act that makes all the others look great.... that's right kids, Matt Gardi takes the stage from 3:30 - 5:30 or until the stop playing bucket gets filled up.  Hecklers are welcome as Matt cuts his musical teeth on your ears.  Then, the talent shows up.... with the DEBUT of the James Darden Band from 7-10pm.  If you like country, you are going to love these guys.  Their awards include the 2016 and 2017 AWA Awards nominee, top 5 local band in Montgomery, AL through the MAMA Association, top 10 contestant of the local Montgomery, AL Nash Next Contest.  Bring your boots out for a Friday of hootin' holerin' and down home country music.

Saturday, Feb 3 - We love dishing up something new for you hungry Apalach live music lovers and the day starts off with some fresh tasty goodness.  It starts with The Living Street from 3-5pm.  These guys are a velvety smooth indie-pop duo consisting of Nick and Edward based out of Pittsburgh, PA.  Then we welcome the return of Lil' Grizzly from 6-9pm.   Lil’Grizzly Boogie Band brings pure southern boogie home to north Florida. You can hear their local roots in their unaffected sound, not a toe will be untapped when they turn up the lap steel, tune up the mandolin and polish the brass on the tuba when they take the stage for a taste of southern fried boogie music.

Sunday, Feb 4 - It's on.  SPAM Cook-Off 2018 and Bowery Station's 4th anniversary celebration will be an event to be remembered...and regurgitated.  The SPAM Cook-Off is your chance to showcase your skills preparing one of the worlds most infamous delicacies SPAM!  Bring your dish and be ready to tell your tale of how you made it, what inspired you, and make up some serious good BS to go along with it.  Contestants will vie for the rights to wear the coveted blue SPAM jacket while on site at BS, and have a reserved stool at the bar available for the entire year.  Your name will be emblazoned on our trophy which sits high up on our cobweb covered shelf and you may be required to go on tour cooking your dish world wide.  Contestants will be judged on both taste and presentation equally, and awards will be presented for both categories along with our overall winner.  Sign ups start at 1pm, and judging starts promptly at 2pm. Tasting judges this year will be Johnny Barbato, Eric Pfeufer, and Brian Bowen, after which at approximately 4pm they will put on a mix up jam session late into the evening.  The remainder of the dishes after judging will be available for the public to sample for donations to benefit the SGI Cat Allies.  Contestants can begin registering at 1pm, and entrants will be closed off promptly at 2pm when the judging will commence.  It's a day of great food, and great music, bribery, vomit, dancing and great facial contortions courtesy of Brian Bowen... Superbowl...schmooperbowl....come out for an event like none other.

Then, it's on to year five of BSin', great live music, and unlimited frivolity....the road goes on forever and the party never ends.
