A great time was had by all at SPAM Cook-Off 2019 and Bowery Station's 5th Anniversary Celebration! Thank you to all our SPAM contestants that worked so hard to put on a great show of pleasant rivalry and shenanigans, and congratulations to this year's winner, Connie Helms, who worked in lines from the judges songs into her presentation as she won with her dish of Candied SPAM! We move into year six, with an ever increasing array of talented performers for your enjoyment.... Wednesday, Feb 6 - Matt Gardi hosts as BS Open Mic rolls from 6-8ish. As always tips for our Open Mic performers go to support local charities, this month we are raising funds for the St. George Island Volunteer Fire Department in anticipation of The Chili Cook-Off coming up in early March, so come on out and support our friends on the Island at Open Mic. Thursday, Feb 7 - DEBUT ALERT! Phillip Nelson plays his first gig on the BS stage during the daytime from 3-5:30pm. Phillip is a powerful guitarist with a dynamic voice and a set list that has everyone tapping their toes. Then, Ladies and Gentlemen....The Beatles!!!! That is right, three of our most talented local artists, Bo Spring, Cat Braaten and Brian Bowen pay tribute to the Fab Four for a tribute night from 6-8:30pm! These three have done previous tribute shows to packed houses, so we expect to have quite a crowd.... So get in early for what will be another memorable evening of great music honoring the greatest musicians! Friday Feb 8 - Paul Boyle is back in the house, for an afternoon of rock, country and Americana from 3-5:30. Paul brings a fun set list that the crowd loves to sing along too, and creates a warm music appreciation room with every show. Then, for a great segway from Paul's style, we welcome the rock n' roll gents of Southern Flood for a roof raising show from 7-10pm. Offering an ever evolving show, based in the roots of the best rock we all love, Charles, Ellis, and Steves... love to play, and the crowd loves to get up and shake a knee once the Flood comes rolling in! Saturday, Feb 9 - Clayton Mathis, a serious up and coming singer/songwriter who is proving his worth with every show he plays will be playing from 3-6pm. Mathis, with originals which locals have come to love such as "Sad Song" and "Chesapeake Girl," also plays some of your favorite covers from country, rock, and even a touch of gospel and hip hop. Then, we welcome back Genna and Jesse for a show from 6:30-9:30pm. We enjoyed this duo last June and we are excited to have them out for a Saturday evening, as this duo's performances are tailored towards an intimate audience, demanding attention through intrigue rather than volume. Routine and monotony are challenges not faced by this pair, or by their music as each song comes from a different place, both musically and lyrically. This is assured to be a captivating Saturday evening. Sunday, Feb 10 - Slim Fatz joins us from 3-5pm. Slim always makes for a great afternoon of music appreciation with his unique style of old time blues, and endearing vocals. Then, local legend Matt Law follows up with a show from 5-8pm. Matt can cover just about any genre and is a favorite of the snowbirds, and can always mix in some creative originals. From blues, and rock, to songwriters such as Dylan.... Matt makes every show a magical and unique performance. Thanks again one and all, whom have supported us through thick and thin for five years... lets tip an OCBC brew to another five fantastic years at Bowery Station... your home for the best live music in Apalachicola!! |
