What a great weekend this past one was, as the Mystic Krewe of Salty Barkers put on a fabulous parade and Mardi Gras celebration. The fun continues into this week and season as we host some of your all time favorites.... Wednesday, Feb 27 - Matt Gardi hosts as BS Open Mic rolls from 6-8ish. As always tips for our Open Mic performers go to support local charities, this week we are raising funds for the St. George Island Volunteer Fire Department in anticipation of The Chili Cook-Off coming up in early March, so come on out and support our friends on the Island at Open Mic. Thursday, Feb 28 - We wrap up the month with a special event as salty troubadour Brian Bowen opens up for Del Suggs. Brian plays the afternoon from 3-6pm and Del Suggs plays on into the evening from 6-8:30pm. Del Suggs is a singer/songwriter and guitarist from the beaches of North Florida. He appears in concert at colleges, universities and festivals across the United States and the Caribbean. Del performs nearly 100 times each year, and sings his original songs for over 100,000 people annually. Del has appeared at over 500 colleges and universities across the US. He's also performed at such prestigious venues as the World Music Festa (Shirahama, Japan), Kerrville Folk Festival (TX), Spirit Square (NC), Lyric Theatre (FL), Sarasota Opera House (FL). Del has appeared at the Florida Folk Festival every year since 1983. This is seriously making Thursdays the new Fridays! Friday, March 1 - Tyler James Arnold comes on in for a show from 3-6pm. Tyler brings the down home Louisiana sound to life with a well chosen set list, great leads over perfect sampling, a voice that commands attention, and tunes ranging from your favorite americana, and southern rock to contemporary gulf coast legends that will have you singing along. Then, get your rockabilly on cause joining us from California, Pope Paul and the Illegals return to Bowery Station from 7-10pm. This trio of talented gents anchored ApalachOktoberfest 2017 and had the crowd hoppin' from start to finish. From high energy swing and honky tonk, to their signature style and original rockabilly feel, Paul, John and Sal always light up the stage with unparalleled enthusiasm. Saturday, March 2 - Sarah Moranville joins us for the afternoon, with a show from 3-6pm. With tremendous vocal range, Sarah's set list spans the generations, and her solid guitar skills keep your feet tapping.... and no one brings a bigger smile! Then, get on the train for Bluesville ladies and gentlemen, and the Jerry Thigpen Trio is ready to rock from 6:30-10pm. Their shows have been commanding attention to full house audiences as their performance of British influenced blues and rock get people up on their feet! Their originals are dynamic and energetic, and played by three masters of the trade. Sunday, March 3 - Slim Fatz joins us from 3-5pm. Slim always makes for a great afternoon of music appreciation with his unique style of old time blues, and endearing vocals. Then, Keal Franklin returns to our stage from 5-8pm. Keal, has played the stage of the The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, and is a prolific songwriter who puts on a show of both new and old themed country and americana while maintaining his own style. It's going to be a fine fine Sunday with these two talents in the house. Thank you again, one and all for your support of live music at Bowery Station.
